This past weekend we participated in the San Francisco 48 Hour Film Project. For those of you wondering what this entails, basically, you have 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short (4-7 minute) film. The trick is that you won’t know what genre it might be & it requires three unknown elements (one character, one prop, & one line of dialogue) that they provide right at the beginning of the 48 hours.
Since SIR & I were up for the challenge, we recruited some friends & some new Scary Cow Productions members for our team, AntiSocialites, making it a ten person crew & cast. And it was certainly a team effort. I am amazed how the team was up for helping out in any way, putting in lots of hours, and keeping the atmosphere fun!
We had lots of luck in being able to shoot at Michael Yochum’s art gallery, Arc Studios & Gallery. He was extremely accommodating and patient with our thirteen hour shoot. Huge thanks goes out to him, as well as our friend, Kirk Michael Harper, for not only introducing us to Mr. Yochum, but also for serving delicious coffee & treats at his cafe, Vega.
As challenging as the task was, we were able to finish our little film and submit it with just enough time to clean ourselves up a bit for the drop-off. Much of this was due to the editing & musical skills of our friends, Marian & V. Vale, at RE/SEARCH Publications.
Please join us at our screening:
Tue., June 29, at 7:00pm & 9:30pm
Lumiere Theater, 1572 California Street, San Francisco, 94109
Hope to see you there!
